Today you are one week new! I can hardly believe that the first week of your sweet life has gone by so fast! You've only been with us for seven days, but you have changed your daddy and me in ways that were previously unimaginable.
Of course, Daddy and I think that you are the sweetest, smartest, most wonderful newborn on earth. You were born at 12:03 AM on Sunday, April 1, and we went home from the hospital together on Tuesday, April 3. Your pediatrician declared that you were "perfect" before you were discharged. You were born at 7 lbs, 1 oz and left the hospital at 6 lbs, 10 oz... tomorrow you have your first pediatrician appointment and we'll find out just how much you weigh now. You're doing really well with breastfeeding, so I think you'll do just fine as far as gaining weight goes.

Your first night home was a mess! You, Daddy, and I just didn't know exactly what we were doing! Every night since then has been MUCH better. You are a great sleeper - in fact, last night you slept TOO long and freaked Mommy out because she was afraid you were starving yourself!! You made up for it with a few good feedings this morning though! We've given you a few sponge baths and you aren't really a fan of being naked and wet. Once your cord falls off, we can give you a real bath!

You seem to keep getting Daddy with what he refers to as "friendly fire"... peeing during a diaper change... but today you managed to hit yourself in the face while Daddy was changing your diaper! Oops!! You weren't so happy about that! We've been using cloth diapers on you since the day after you came home and Mommy and Daddy love them. You're a little smaller than we assumed you would be at birth, so we bought a few new diapers that are made especially for newborns. We also ordered some smaller prefolds for your diaper covers. With the ones we have now, you look like you have a bowling ball in your butt! It's cute, but we're working on a fix!
Today you had your first outing. Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma took you to the diner for lunch. You slept the whole time! Then Mommy and Daddy took you on a walk around the lake near our house - the same lake that Mommy and Daddy walked around over and over as we tried to get you to come out to meet us. You slept through the whole walk too, but we know it was good for you to get some fresh air!

You love your hands! You found them pretty quickly and love to suck on your fingers. It's pretty darn cute! :)

Sweet baby boy, we love you so much! We can't wait to watch you grow (but please don't do it too quickly!!!)
