Five Months Old!

Dear Nathaniel,

Happy Five Months, buddy!

Today, you are FIVE whole months old!  Mommy and Daddy cannot believe that the time has gone so quickly.  We tell you this pretty much every day, but you are truly the biggest blessing of our lives and we love you so, so much!

With Mommy on the field

The month of August brought you an introduction to marching band.  Mommy's marching band season started back on July 31 and you have been around quite a few practices already.  Mommy and Daddy bought you some awesome headphones to protect your hearing.  It's important that we keep those little ears safe, so you wear these whenever you come around the band.  Fortunately, they don't seem to bother your head at all; you are very patient when you have them on.

You're still in your 3-6 month clothing, but it seems like you are growing every day!  You have also still been exclusively drinking breastmilk.  It seems to be doing the trick for you!

Sleeping before we stopped swaddling you

You have continued your streak as a wonderful sleeper.  You go to bed around 9/9:30 and wake up around 7:30/8 in the morning.  Things will change a bit now that school is starting and Mommy has to go back to work.  Last week, after we got home from a weekend in Cape May, we stopped swaddling you altogether.  We were worried that you would have trouble sleeping without the swaddle, but you are doing great.

"Sing us a song, you're the Piano-Nate"

Your favorite toy these days seems to be your piano toy.  You LOVE to play in there and "talk" to us while you're in there.  You also still love your playmats.  You have mastered the back to belly roll and spend quite a bit of time doing that while playing.  Sometimes (often) you seem to forget that you know how to roll from belly to back and you just stay "stuck" there on your tummy - and you get MAD!  Mommy and Daddy help you out and roll you back over.

You love to play!

Your motor skills are getting much better and you hold on to your toys really well.  It is amazing to watch every new skill you acquire.  Since you love to grab things so much, Mommy and Daddy need to keep important items out of reach so you don't break them, though we found you trying to put Mommy's iPhone in your mouth the other day - Oops!

You've gotten a lot more hair lately and it is so soft and so cute!  You're still a drooly monster and it seems like teeth are becoming more and more of a possibility any day now.  They still haven't made an appearance though, and that's okay!  We also took you for your first chiropractic adjustment this month; we have to get you all straightened out after being all curled up in Mommy for so long.  They warned us that you may cry while being adjusted, but instead you giggled! Silly boy!

Little boy, you are amazing and we are so in love with you!  Thanks for being a great son and giving us the most wonderful five months of our lives!
