Nate had a wonderful first birthday!
The kitchen was his "big gift" from Mommy and Daddy. We thought he would enjoy getting to cook in his kitchen when Mommy and Daddy are also cooking in the kitchen!

Nate enjoyed opening his gifts on the kitchen floor (as good a place as any!). In addition to his kitchen, which we stocked well with play food, pans, and utensils, we got him a cute new outfit.
Grandma and Grandpa stopped by to say, "Happy Birthday" on their way out of town. Unfortunately, Grandpa wasn't feeling very well and was treated to an emergency appendectomy the next day! What a way to start retirement! Mommy, unfortunately, had to go to work, but Daddy made Nate a special birthday pancake! Nate wasted no time enjoying his breakfast treat!

After Mommy got home from work, we took a drive out to the mall and took Nate to Build-a-Bear to pick out his new special friend. He chose a very sweet teddy bear, and helped to stuff him and put the heart in him and everything. One of Nate's nicknames is "Squiz", so we (very appropriately) named his new friend "Squizzy Bear".

After we left the mall, we went home for dinner. We decided to have ravioli, since it is one of Nate's favorites. He enjoyed it just as much as we thought he would. After dinner, we each had a birthday cupcake. Mommy and Daddy lit the candle and sang to Nate again! Nare loved shoving the cupcake in his face!

Mommy and Daddy each made sure to get a picture with the birthday boy. We enjoyed his first birthday and hope that he did too! Still so hard to believe that this kiddo is one already!
