22 Months Old

Dear Nathaniel,

22 Months Old!

Twenty-two months old!?! How is that even possible!?!  You are edging closer and closer to two years old, and Mommy and Daddy are astounded at how much you have grown!  You are growing so quickly, right before our very eyes.  Let's take a look at what your twenty second month had to offer you.

Coloring!
January was pretty cold this year!  We did have one really nice day during which we got outside to play, but other than that, we spent a lot of time cooped up inside!  One our one nice day, you helped Daddy build your new "beep beep", and went down your slide as many times as you could manage! In fact, we were actually getting ready to take you to the park that day, but you walked out the back door and went straight for your slide and didn't want to get in the car to go to the park, so we rolled with it and hung out in the backyard!  A wonderful afternoon for sure!

Unfortunately, January also brought you your first stomach bug.  We had a pretty rough evening with you getting sick and not being able to keep anything down.  Mommy and Daddy called the doctor and we were just about to take you in to the ER per her instructions when you fell asleep on Daddy's shoulder.  We decided to keep you home and let you sleep on one of us for a while that evening, and when you woke up, you were able to drink some fluids and keep them down.  You got better pretty quickly after that.  Unfortunately, Mommy and Daddy each took a turn with the tummy bug after you had it!

Mommy finally got over the fact that you are a growing boy and she put away all of your 18 month clothing.  You had a ton!  You have a ton of really cute 24 month and 2T outfits - Mommy is afraid that you won't even manage to wear all of them before spring hits!  She is also looking forward to buying you a new spring wardrobe.  We'll have to get you some new shorts and t-shirts before we go meet Mickey Mouse in April!

Nate, you're a pretty good eater most of the time, but you are definitely exercising your right to be picky.  Pasta and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were always a good standby when you were refusing to eat what we had given you.  We took you to Pizza Hut for the first time this month, just prior to going to a regional band concert.  You looooooved the breadsticks.  That's how Mommy and Daddy know that you have their tastebuds!

Having a "picnic" lunch

You were a great sleeper this month!  You settled right back into your crib after having used the toddler bed at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  Daddy had to go out of town for a few nights this month, and you were a great sleeper for all but one night.  That one night, Mommy finally just gave up on trying to put you back in your crib and let you come snuggle with her in bed.  You decided that sleep was for the weak and wanted to sing and play, but finally snoozed just long enough for Mommy to steal another hour of sleep and then get ready for work.  Silly boy!

Despite being stuck inside for most of the month, you did a great job playing with your different toys and keeping busy.  Mommy and Daddy worked with you on having you put away one big toy before taking out another.  You are doing a great job with clean-up time!  You especially love your trains and your Jake and the Neverland Pirates blocks.  You also love to draw on your chalkboard.  Mommy even let you use paints one day to make a picture for Daddy before he came back from his trip!  Daddy and Mommy are especially glad that we have MyGym to take you to, as it gives you a chance to run around and stretch your legs during these cold winter months.

Mommy had a couple of snow days this month, but unfortunately it was too cold to even get out and enjoy the snow!  It was nice, however, to have some bonus time at home with you!  One of the days was while Daddy was out of town. We had fun playing just the two of us.  You were a very well-behaved little boy that day!  Mommy was very grateful!

Train time
No new news on the teething front, which is good news.  We're happy to have a bit of time before we all have to endure the fun of new teeth coming in.  You like to wear your teething necklace, and often ask for it in the mornings when you are getting dressed, so we have just kept on letting you wear it!

Your vocabulary really exploded this month!  It is so much fun to hear you learn new words.  The cutest things that you say these days are, "I nice", "I funny", and "I cute".  It absolutely melts Mommy's heart to hear you say these things!  You have also gotten good at "reading" some of your books, by being able to repeat back parts of them to Mommy and Daddy as you flip through them.  You are starting to repeat words that you hear, so Mommy and Daddy have to be careful of what they say around you.  You heard the Super Bowl commercial featuring Bruno Mars so many times that you started to sing some of one of his songs from time to time!  Absolutely hysterical, but we're still trying to figure out just how appropriate that is!

Playing your "doot-doot"
Sweet Natertot, Mommy and Daddy love you so very much.  Keep on growing and making us laugh!!

Silly boy!

Love,

Mommy
