Everyday holds the possibility of a miracle...: 23 Months Old!

Dear Nathaniel,

23 Months Old!

Oh my goodness, you are 23 months old! That is just one month shy of being a TWO year old! How did you get this old already? I don't know where the time has gone, but I know that it has been FUN!

We had even more snow this month. We managed to finally get outside to play in the snow on one of our snow days because it was finally "warm" enough! All the prior storms had taken the temperatures (with wind chill) under zero degrees, so up until now, we enjoyed the snow from the comfort of indoors.

Despite the snow and crummy weather, we tried to keep you as active as possible this month. You enjoyed your MyGym class every week. We even moved you up to the next age group a little early so that you could go to class with your friend, Teddy. Your teacher, Mr. Matt, said that you were definitely ready to move up, so we went for it! We have also taken you to the pool at the gym so that you could get some swimming time in. You are a little fish! You love to swim and we love watching you play in the water!

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit from Ohio, which was a lot of fun. You got to spend some good, quality time with them, and even got to go to lunch with Grandma, Grandpa, Grams, and Dedo - all at once! You're a lucky boy to have such wonderful grandparents who love you so much. Mommy and Daddy also took you to Liberty Science Center again, this time with Grandma and Grandpa. We had a great time - you loved it just as much this time as you did the last time!

Mommy went back and read last month's post and realized she bragged about putting all of your 18 month clothing away. What was she thinking? You are still wearing a handful of 18 month shirts and pants, but onesies have definitely gone by the wayside. You are a t-shirt kind of boy now! So, while some of the onesies we own might still fit you, they are no longer in rotation. Just another step towards you growing up!

This was a great month for you when it comes to eating. You are great at trying new things and eating your meals with Mommy and Daddy. You are also a bit of a mooch... always trying to steal food if you see Mommy or Daddy eating something without you. You're a silly boy!

I feel silly even writing about your sleep schedule anymore. You have really settled into a "big boy" sleep pattern and rarely wake in the middle of the night. Every once in a while you will wake up and Daddy usually goes in to snuggle you back down, but for the most part, you are a great sleeper. You love to wake up early (especially on the weekends) and come into Mommy and Daddy's bed to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We don't mind; we love the snuggles.

You continue to grow with your imaginative play. You love to put together your train tracks in different configurations, and build different types of structures with your Duplo blocks. You also LOVE to "cook" with your play food and have started offering Mommy and Daddy "meals" that you make. Mommy's favorite is the hot dog that you like to watch her pretend to eat. Engaging you in imaginative play is so much fun!

I feel like I say this every month, but your vocabulary has really expanded! It's amazing to hear you come up with new words all the time. You're putting together more sentences. For instance, when you are pretending to cook and making a "burger", you put it on the spatula and said "ready, flip!". You are also good at asking for things by name, for instance, you LOVE to watch "Finding Nemo", and will ask us to "Watch Nemo". It's fun to see you start to put more words together, little by little!
