20 Months Old

Dear Nathaniel,

20 Months!

You are the sweetest, most wonderful little boy on the planet and Mommy and Daddy can hardly believe that you are TWENTY months old already!  These have been the twenty happiest months of our lives, you can be sure of that!

Silly dress-up fun at Liberty Science Center
This month, when Mommy and Daddy celebrated their anniversary, you had your first overnight away from us.  You stayed the night at Grams and Dedo's house in Bayonne and had a blast.  You and Dedo both marched circles around the house!  After we picked you up on Sunday, you were exhausted...though we hear the Dedo was too! Who wore who out??

Mommy and Daddy have pretty much given up on much of your 18 month clothing, and you wear mostly 24 month outfits these days.  Anything new that we buy for you is 24 month now.  Mommy needs to find some time to put away all of your smaller clothing!

You were a good little eater this month, trying almost anything we put in front of you.  We finally let you have shellfish, and you seemed to really enjoy that.  You weren't a huge fan of Thanksgiving dinner, but you had a great time cracking everybody up at the dinner table.  You used your roll as a "phone" and kept holding it to your ear saying, "Hello!"  Great entertainment, for sure!

Buddy, we're not going to lie, you weren't the best sleeper this month.  Maybe it was teeth, maybe it was a growth spurt, maybe you just didn't feel like sleeping well, but you didn't have many nights that you didn't wake up at least once.  It's okay though, you're only little once, and even if it means we're tired the next day, Mommy and Daddy will soak up all the extra night time snuggles that we can!

Mommy brought home a recorder for you this month and you looooooved it.  You march around the house playing it.  When the recorder isn't available, you take your Duplo blocks and stack them to make an "instrument" and march around using that.  Mommy was happy that marching season ended this month, but you seem pretty intent on making it last year 'round at home, and that's totally okay with us!

Mommy and Daddy took a day off of work this month to spend some extra time with you.  The three of us went to Liberty Science Center in Jersey City and had a wonderful time!  There was a Bob the Builder exhibit and you just had a blast "planting flowers", pushing the buttons in the different trucks and such, and running around in general.  You also liked looking at the fish being fed and seeing the Superbowl exhibit with the Vince Lombardi trophy.  You ran around the trophy yelling, "FOOOBALLL!!!!!".  Everyone who passed you by thought that it was hysterical, especially the girl who was supervising that area.  You're a silly little guy!

All but one of your cuspids have come in pretty well at this point.  You love to brush your teeth - you think it is such a treat!  Let's hope you keep that good hygiene up!!  You also love to take your vitamin now that we switched you from the gross liquid one to the gummy ones!

Your vocabulary seems to get better every day.  Pretending to have a phone (or stealing one of ours) and saying "Hello" was a big one this month.  You also started to say "Yo ho ho" quite a bit.  We listen to the Jake and the Neverland Pirates soundtrack in the car a lot, and you have caught on to that quite well!  It's adorable and we love to hear you say it! There are several other words that seem to pop up here and there... especially, "No!", must to our dismay!  Regardless, we always enjoy hearing your sweet voice!
Yummy!
Unfortunately, this month, we had to say goodbye to your great grandmother.  It was very sad to have to say goodbye, but we did manage to fly out to Chicago for her funeral, and you got to spend time with family that we love very much.  You got to see both of your godparents and that was very special for you.

Sweet boy

Nate, you are one of the coolest kids out there!  We are so lucky to be your parents and we enjoy every single day that we spend with you!  We're so thankful for YOU, little boy!!

Love you, buddy!
Love,

Mommy
