Everyday holds the possibility of a miracle...: 18 Months Old

Dear Nathaniel,

18 Months Old!

You are 18 months old! A year and a half! Starting today, you are closer to two than you are to one! Where did all the time go?

How can this much time have passed?

September was a crazy month filled with back to school and back to your babysitter for you, and lots and lots of marching band. We did find some time to squeeze in some fun family time, don't worry!

You are still wearing mostly 18 month clothing, with the occasional 24 month or 2T item thrown in. Now that Mommy is back to work, Daddy is usually the one getting you dressed in the morning. Mommy has to admit that he does a great job picking out your outfits. Daddy sends Mommy a picture of you every morning so I can see what you are wearing that day. It's like a fashion show for my phone!

Your obsession with apples continued this month, as you ate one pretty much every day after we went to pick them towards the beginning of the month. You pretty much wake up in the morning asking for "apple? apple?". You really love all fruit and I'm pretty sure that if we let you, you would eat only fruit all of the time. This month, you also discovered the joy of what we call the "dip dip". You started to dip your chicken tenders or other appropriate foods in barbecue sauce. When you do it, you say "dip dip dip". It's very cute and it gets you to eat your meats just a little better, which Mommy appreciates.

Your sleeping habits have continued to be great. You have a different schedule at home than at they babysitter's house, but that seems to work for you. At home, you take a morning and an afternoon nap. At her house, you are only interested in a long nap right after lunch. You seem to make the transition between schedules with no problem, so we're just going with it!

Ready to sleep... or play...

This month, you got to start going to MyGym class weekly. You love to run, climb, tumble, and play. Mommy and Daddy are so glad that we signed you up for this. You also love to play in the bathtub, and really enjoy your Duplo blocks. You are very good at playing independently, which is great! You also like to include Mommy and Daddy when you are playing, and have us help you with your blocks when you get frustrated trying to take them apart or put them back together.

I mentioned before that we went to pick apples this month. We went back to Alstede Farms, where we took you last year, and had a blast! We picked raspberries, apples, and pumpkins and you had a great time. We also took a hay ride and had a great time with that. You were so well behaved while we were there, and loved getting to walk on your own through the pumpkin patch. We settled on two pumpkins - a big one for Mommy and Daddy to share, and a smaller one for you.

Teething seems to be starting up again for you, which is right on schedule. Hopefully these next few teeth come in without too much fuss.

Oooh!

You seem to add words all the time. Of all the color names to learn, you have started to say, "yellow". Mommy thinks that "red" or "blue" might be easier, but you do things your own way, and Mommy is totally cool with that. "Apple" is your other favorite word, and, as I said before, you ask for it all the time!!

Nate, Mommy and Daddy just adore all of the time that we get to spend with you. We love watching you grow and learn and play every single day! Cheers to a year and a half of fun with you, little buddy!
